Workshop

Workshop

Oct 03rd, 2008 at 20:26:14

This wednesday I, Tom de Bruijn, gave a presentation/workshop "HTML and CSS" along with Scripterplace.com owner Remco B. This wasn't the first workshop we did. It was on our school and actually the thirth time the school asked me and the second time they asked Remco (he took the workshop the first time).

Somehow we are able to understand HTML and CSS code more quickly then others. So we were asked to spread our knowledge because there is an assignment for the thirth year at our school that involves those languages for building a website.

Of course when you give a workshop that involves websites, you need to have a website they can go to! Sure I can send them to Newanz, but I decided to rebuild the sub site I made for the first 2 times. The old one was only compatible with EPT3 and removed when EPT 4 was released.

The Sub website I made is viewable here, but mind!: it's in Dutch/Nederlands.

Workshop Sub website

About the Workshop Sub site

It is based upon the system build for the new NewsOffice website and it's integrated into our admin panel. I like to add it to our list of sub sites on your left soon.

The students that were at the workshop actually saw the NewsOffice layout, because I didn't had time to make an different layout.

Thank you for reading,

Tom de Bruijn

NewsOffice update - Version 2.0

NewsOffice update - Version 2.0

So what's new with NewsOffice?

Version 2.0

We can now confirm that a 2.0 version is in development as we speak.
Yes we know that it takes way to long for the new version to arrive. The NewsOffice 1.2 RC1 version was not going all that well, too much of the 1.1 bugs were still in it and not much development could be done on it. So we decided to build a whole new version, NewsOffice 2.0.

Why?

Stability, speed and just a better application all together. We hope to improve the speed which was getting worse since version 1.1. Stablity; well most people know the bug on which comments float around and do not get sorted as they should? That one and many other will be fixed.

A better application; all nice in theory, but do we realise it? Quick answer: Yes.
Improved plugin system, improved user system, improved news management system and this all thanks to .Nzr.
.Nzr ?
Okay for the people not familiar with it, it's our very own .nzr file reader. Which should work like an flat file database.

Backward compatibility

Due to .Nzr we use a whole new file system and this results in some issues. Hope not to disapoint anyone with this, but it's difficult to realise the backward compatibility. Sure we will give a try to make it as compatible as possible, but no promises!

The first release, probably beta or release candidate, will not include an updater for the older versions!

When?

We are very sorry, but we can't give you a release date. Why not? Well to much things that can take up our attention and we don't want to disappoint you. If we would give a release date, it would be a safe date for a couple of weeks/months/years....

More updates on this last version, hopefully, soon!

I just bought myself a tablet! A Wacom Bamboo kind of one.. Now why would I let you know? Using this tablet I can, hopefully, make some more photoshop images/wallpapers/etc.
Designing templates and other things will also be a lot easier, but my first reason was the fact I might be having some issues while using a mouse. I will see how it goes with the tablet for now.

I hope I can show some examples of the tablet in action soon Laughing
