Rushing NewsOffice 2.0.5 Beta

Rushing NewsOffice 2.0.5 Beta

Mar 03rd, 2009 at 09:54:39

Unfortunately NewsOffice 2.0.4 Beta still had some bugs, 5 to be precise. They don't break the whole functionality, but some supporting features. Bugs are found in the system status checker (version and error reporter), .Nzr error reporter, the updater and the new messages hider.
They are just bugs, no (security) leaks or other security issues. Although I have made some improvements.

NewsOffice 2.0.5 Beta will be rushed to completion already containing a few new things. I choose for the 2.0.5 number as it's too large for a 2.0.4.1 version number. Hopefully I will be able to put it online tonight, yes that is just 2 days after the 2.0.4 Beta release. Very quick, but this proofs we think about the users first and try to fix any issues that might arrise asap.

Expect another small quick news message here and in NewsOffice itself, tonight or tomorrow, when the new version is done.

This also means that a new version, for example 2.0.6+ Beta, is already in development.

Thank you for reading,

Tom de Bruijn

Announcing NewsOffice 2.0.4 Beta and 2.0.5 Beta

Announcing NewsOffice 2.0.4 Beta and 2.0.5 Beta

Feb 25th, 2009 at 19:15:00

I am aiming for this weekend to release the latest version of NewsOffice: 2.0.4 Beta.
I mentioned working on it not too long ago, but this version is more or less done already. Unfortunately a lot of new features I wanted to add are not done so they won't be shipped with the new version.

So why release the new version then? Well my list of changes got a little big. A lot of small changes, bug fixes and new little additions.
So to share these latest changes the new version is released as soon as possible. I certainly hope you will like the changes. I do have to add that 2.0.4 Beta is no small change to 2.0.3 Beta. Some new things:
- Total HTML div-tag based layout for the admin panel. Working with CSS to give the same or a better result than the old table-tag based layout.
- Improved updater engine
- bug-fixes (Which brings the total bug count since version 2 to 20)
- New feature to "click-away" important messages. Only for that (user) session.
- Global functions are now renamed to no_function_name.
- Etc.

All the things I want to add, but can't right now I will add to the next version. Which one will that be? NewsOffice 2.0.5 (or higher) Beta!
This will structurally have some major differences, which I actually wanted to add in 2.0.4 Beta. Now this might break some things you might have added/changed in NewsOffice, but hey! It's a beta version, the full feature list and structure isn't fully done and not even on paper; so these changes can and will happen. Take that in mind when you update! (or change anything, we do not support changes to NewsOffice)

See you this weekend and thank you for reading,

Tom de Bruijn

Update: 2009-02-27: NewsOffice 2.0.3 Beta now counts 14 bugs; 23 since version 2.0 Beta.
