Updates on .Nzr and NewsOfficeUpdates on .Nzr and NewsOfficeApr 08th, 2009 at 15:38:47
.Nzr 1.0 Beta 2 specifications are updated, but not yet released. Some new things are:
- record updater/creator/deleter/filter/rekey-er
- ability to define a primary key, with auto increment for the save functionality.
- file creation
- no fixed key structure
- and some more.
And that's not all as I still want to a record searcher, column adder, primary key definer and some other things.
NewsOffice is going good. I started on the news_show.php file as it needs some major rewriting. Added a class to convert content more easily an updated preview functionality. Also made some preparations for some future functionality in the news post editor/writer.
Like I said to Sabbykat the release of the 2.0.7 Beta version will be 2-3 weeks, that's 1-2 weeks from now. Easter weekend is coming up and I have no plans yet, so with some luck I will get it done in that weekend.
Other than the above; I am busy, busy, busy.

The NewsOffice panel has almost been fully integrated with the new .Nzr Beta 2. Convertion for the theme files is done, but that's the only one. All the other .Nzr file convertions are not done yet. The news_show.php file is still from 2.0.6 Beta so that will also take some time to rewrite.
And when all of that is done, I need to make an large updater file which converts 2.0.6 Beta files to 2.0.7 Beta files and rewrite the installer to match the new 2.0.7 Beta format.
All and all a lot of work which I will continue with now..

Woah!.. Forgot to update in a while now. This doesn't mean I am doing nothing, on the contrary: I am working a lot on NewsOffice 2.0.7. Implementing .Nzr 1.0 Beta 2 is a lot a work; going through every function and replacing the old .Nzr code with the new code..
Anyway, I am working on a new feature and perfecting the ones already in place. The update will not bring a world of difference in functionality, but it does in coding. Most old .Nzr coding is now simplified and easier to work with. I have also changed a lot of main NewsOffice coding, this might not be good news for do-it-yourself coders out there who have modified "core" NewsOffice code, but then again: you are not supposed to.
The plugin system will also be better integrated in new versions, but if that will be in version 2.0.7 I don't know yet. I can't say when it's done, I have to run a few tests and .Nzr 1.0 Beta 2 still has some minor bugs.
