Let me first get this out of the way: Nothing has been done about any project whatsoever lately. Meaning: this past week week orso. I am busy with other things and cleaning up and organizing all my computer files. I recovered a lot of old Newanz/Uturn-zone.nl projects and can now expand the Newanz portfolio with these, but only probably with the new CMS. Beginning to get bored/irritated with EPT 4.
Below here I will describe what I am busy with now.
To improve my work, by beeing able to work anywhere I want, I decided to buy a ASUS EEE PC 1005HA. This laptop gives me to opportunity to work on the Newanz website and projects anywhere I want. Offline or online doesn't matter. I have everything on local drives.
This EEE PC promises 10 hours of battery life in the best possible conditions. But somewhere I ran into some trouble. Getting the correct battery.
I live in the Netherlands and ASUS here has no good details about the models of the 1005HA. There is a H and M model, but no one knows the difference, expect for the Intel Atom N280 or N270. Still though I like the largest battery, because my current laptop, the Toshiba Satellite L40-12K has just an embarrasing 1,5 hour battery in best conditions.
My father decided to buy this for me as a birthday present (from 2th of June this year) which I really thank him for. Else it would cost me another €420,- (I am upgrading the memory to 2GB )
--- I will get back to this purchase. ASUS and the store I am going to purchase it still need to reply before I buy it. Hopefully that is before I go on vacation again.
I also decided to buy a new camera, for my (new) hobby; photography. The Canon Ixus 100 IS (Black) will probably be not the expert camera that some might want, but I need something to carry around with easy and a "view finder" which a lot of companies decided was absolete with the new generation of digital compact camera's. Fortunatly this one has a "view finder" and that's why I am buying it.
A lot of settings and extra's on there I will probably never use, but I have them just in case. Money appears to be no problem in this purchase. My former colleagues where I did the Ingram Micro NewServer project with gave €25,- (well I used their gift certificate), my mother €100,- and my stepmother another €100+. Which all comes down to me not paying for the camera anymore. Which is great if you consider the first time I thought about buying that camera I only had the gift certificate. Thanks guys!
Update @ 2009-07-18: I got the camera today, just in a day. Going to test run it today; when the battery is charged.
Thank you for reading (this very unrelated (to Newanz) "news" post),
