School
Newanz Teaching is school project of
Tom de Bruijn. It's put online on Newanz to share it for the people who still need to build it next year.
What is Newanz Teaching?
Newanz Teaching is a Digital Portfolio system which allows students to send in their projects
(assignments/tasks) made by the teachers. They can search for projects, apply for it and hand in (digitally) their results. Than a teacher will be able to rate it, resulting into their final grade for that project. Teachers will also be able to add new projects, add students and add attachments to it.
Parents will be able to monitor the results of all their children added to the application as long as they are added to their profile.
The last group are the Administrators who are able to change everything within the application.
The application is build for the fictional high school named "Het Beethoven College". Probably named after the musician.
Resources
Of course
Tom de Bruijn has used some code used in
EPT 4, what else? As much originated from him it's only fair.
The layout is kept simple, because it has to be avaliable for (12 to 18 year old) students, teachers and parents. In this case only
div tags were used instead of
table tags and this actually worked out better than expected.
Usage
Newanz Teaching is a free application which everyone can download and use. No installer is added to the application. Installation will have to be done through and MySQL interface like PHPMyAdmin.
The documentation added to the download will be written in Dutch/Nederlands. So you can tell it mainly focussed on the Dutch audience.
Languages
The interface language of the application is Dutch/Nederlands. It will
NOT be rewritten into English, because it's too much work and it holds no greater value to
Tom de Bruijn.
The application is written in PHP and based upon an MySQL database. The comments, variables, tables and columns are mainly written in English.
Note from
Tom de Bruijn:
I just realised something, comments made on projects might not be deleted when you delete the project. I just hope my teacher at school won't think it's such a problem.
